Head

Rnd 1: Ch 4, join with sl st in fourth ch from hook to form ring. Ch 2 (counts as first hdc now and throughout), work 11 hdc in ring. Join with sl st into top of beg ch 3. (12 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st and nest st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st,* repeat bet* around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (18 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st and next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts,* repeat bet * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (24 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in next st and each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: Repeat Round 4.

Rnd 6: Ch 2, hdc in next 10 sts, ch 4, skip next 4 sts, hdc in last nine sts, sl st into top of beg ch 2. (20 hdc)

Rnd 7: Ch 2, hdc in next 10 sts, hdc in next ch, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, hdc in last ch, hdc in last 9 sts, sl st into top of beg ch 2. (22 hdc)

Rnd 8: Ch 2, hdc in next st, *hdc next 2 sts or chs tog * repeat bet * 10 more times. Skip beg ch 2, sl st into next hdc. (12 sts) Stuff firmly.

Rnd 9: Ch 2, hdc in next st and each st around. Sl st into top of beg ch 2.

Body

Rnd 10: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st into top of beg ch 2. (24 sts)

Rnd 11: Ch 2, hdc in same st and next st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st* repeat bet * around, sl st into top of beg ch 2. (36 sts)

Rnd 12: Sl st into next 2 sts, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 11 sts, ch 3, skip next 6 sts, dc in next 12 sts, ch 3 skip last 6 sts. Sl st into top of beg ch 3. (24 dc)

Rnd 13: Ch 3, ^ * dc next 2 sts tog, dc in next 2 sts,* repeat bet * once more, dc next 2 sts tog, dc in next st, dc in each of next 3 chs, ^ dc in next st, repeat bet ^ once more. Sl st into top of beg ch 3. (24 sts)

Rnd 14: Ch 3, dc in next st and each st around. Sl st into top of beg ch 3.

Rnd 15: Ch 3, dc in 12 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 sts, dc in next 2 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 sts, dc in last 3 sts. Sl st into top of beg ch 3.

Stuff body of bear being careful not to push stuffing out of arm and leg holes.

Rnd 16: Ch 2, hdc in next st, *hdc next 2 sts/chs tog * repeat bet * around. Skip beg ch 2, sl st into top of next hdc. Finish off leaving long end for sewing. Finish stuffing body of bear. Sew bottom of bear closed by sewing back to front of bear with long end.

Snout

Rnd 1: Holding bear with head up, join with sc in free loop of first ch of ch 2 sp of Rnd 7 of head. Sc in next ch, sc in side of hdc, sc bet rnds 6 and 7, sc in side of hdc on Rnd 6, hdc in each of 4 sts left unworked in Rnd 5, sc in side of next hdc on Rnd 6, sc bet Rnds 6 and 7, sc in side of hdc on Rnd 7, sl st into beg sc. (12 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st and next 3 sts, hdc in next 6 sts, sc in last 2 sts, sl st into beg sc. Stuff snout slightly.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc same st and next st tog, sc next 2 sts tog, hdc next 2 sts tog, hdc in next 2 sts, hdc next 2 sts tog, sc last 2 sts tog. Sl st into beg decrease. (7 sts) Finish off leaving long end for sewing. Finish stuffing snout, whipstitch top to bottom of snout.

Ears

Arms

Rnd 1: Holding bear with head up, join with sc in free loop of first ch of Rnd 12 of body under arm hole, sc in back of next 2 chs, 2 sc in side of dc, hdc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in side of next dc. Do not join. (13 sts)

Rnd 2: Sc in first st of Rnd 1, sc in next 2 sts, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Do not join. Continue working in rounds. (11 sts)

Rnds 3 - 5: Sc in each st around. Stuff arm.

Rnd 6: *Sc next 2 sts tog,* repeat bet * 5 more times. Sl st into next st. Finish off. Pull end tight and weave to inside of bear.

Repeat for other arm.

Legs

Rnd 1: Holding bear with head up, join free loop of first ch in leg hole made on Rnd 15 of body, ch 3, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in side of next dc, 2 sc in side of same dc, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in side of next dc, hdc in side of same dc. Sl st into top of beg ch 3. (12 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st around. Do not join. Continue working in rounds.

Rnd 3: Sc in first st of Rnd 2 and each st around.

Rnds 4-6: Sc in each st around.

Rnd 7: Sc in each st around. Sl st into beg sc. Finish off leaving long end. Stuff leg. Weave long end thru each st and pull tight. Secure and weave end to inside of bear.

Repeat for other leg.

Finishing

Glue 2 black or gold seed beads to face for eyes.

Tie 12 inch length of red 3/8 inch wide ribbon around neck of bear in bow.

Make hanger by running 6 inches of invisible thread through stitch at top of head and knotting ends together.
